Thank you for a wonderful 2019 picking season!
Thanksgiving always marks a special time of year on the farm. The pick-your-own season has come to a close and the farm starts to quiet down, offering us some space to reflect on the season.
There is so much to celebrate about our 2019 season.
This year’s blueberry crop was one of the best we’ve ever seen. Even our oldest rows of blueberries, planted in the late 1970s, still produced heavy bunches of berries this year!
We planted a new patch of strawberries behind the market, which will offer excellent picking for years to come.
We opened SoHu Craft Market last November, which has become home to 30+ local artisans.
We’ve had several incredible events on the farm that have brought our community together around local food, music, art, and a couple of large bonfires!
It wouldn’t be farming without a challenge or two:
Our apples faced several diseases this year, so our crop looked a little different from the blemish-free apples you might expect to see at the store.
This year’s strawberry crop was invaded by thistle, making the picking experience a prickly one. Thank you to all of you who braved the weeds and picked this year!
The Hudson Valley has been home to our farm for seventy-seven years now and while the Valley has always been a beautiful part of the world, the region has grown to become a more dynamic and vibrant place to live. We’re so thankful for everyone who visited the farm to pick some fresh fruit, grab a meal at the market, or feed our family of goats. We’re proud to be a part of the Hudson Valley and excited for the next decade!
