Pick-Your-Own Peas
Our Practices
Our Sugar Snap Peas are part of our annual crop rotation. We move the peas throughout the farm each year to preserve the health of our soil. Our peas are never sprayed with any pesticides.
Picking Season
Sugar Snap Peas begin in June and continue for just a few weeks.
Picking Tips
Sugar Snap Peas ripen from the bottom of the vine to the top of the vine. The weight of the peas on the vine make it fall over.
The most mature are on the bottom. The least mature are on the top.
Keep that in mind when you want to choose the maturity that you want to pick.
Because the vines have fallen over with the peas underneath, you have to turn the vines over gently, hold the vines with one hand, and pull the peas with the other so you don’t pull the vine from the ground.
Since they mature gradually, early in the season, ripe peas will be at the bottom of the vine. And, late in the season, the best peas will be at the top of the vine.
